About the collection
Functional Composite Materials is calling for submissions to our Collection on 'Sustainable bitumen modification using functional waste materials.'
Sustainability is a critical concern for all composite materials, especially those derived from limited or hazardous sources. In the asphalt industry, bitumen modification presents a promising opportunity to enhance material performance while increasing the recycling rates of waste materials. By modifying bitumen with various waste materials, it is possible to extend its in-service lifetime and improve properties such as stability, resistance to permanent deformation, and temperature susceptibility. Utilizing waste materials for bitumen modification not only promotes sustainability for future generations but also supports the circular economy and environmental protection.
