There is great need for tribological research to exploit new technologies in components in mechanical systems. Just some of the benefits can be drastically reduced friction and wear, increased lifetime or power density as well as conservation of energy and resources.
The aim of this topical collection is to collect original research manuscripts on the tribology of components in mechanical systems, with a specific focus on experimental and numerical studies on the most widespread machine elements, e.g. gears, bearings and seals.
